Hey, thanks for visiting my blog! I'm so excited to have you here! Ngl I'm rather honored that you liked what you saw on the home page so much that you decided to hop over here and find out more about the person behind the blog :)
I accepted Jesus as my Savior as a child (three times, actually...not totally sure that I understood the concept of salvation, haha), but it wasn't until I became an adult that I fully began to grasp the weight of sin and fully realized the depth of the price that Jesus paid.
God is good, y'all. All the time.
I love books (obviously.) I grew up on a farm and absolutely loved it, but let me tell you, if I was ever given the opportunity to stay inside and read rather than catch some fresh air...well, let's just say I was a rather pale child.
Well, now that I'm an adult with no choice but to get out of the house and work, I discovered that I actually do love being outside. Go figure. (And praise Jesus, my job is outside, haha)
My love for books, however, hasn't changed. Though I don't read as much as I used to - nearly 100 books a year down to 14 last year? *cries* - I do still love it. I wish i could blame my lack of reading on general life busyness, but let's face it, Instagram is a time sucker. (10/10 recommend deleting the app for weeks at a time, btw. If you're like me and can't bring yourself to delete your account entirely. Let's just be appreciative and acknowledge the fact that I don't have Facebook or Twitter or TikTok.)
It's this love for books that led me to crafting my own stories (mainly started out with writing fanfiction for my favorite book series and actually placed in a couple of the author's contests), and, eventually, to self-publish my debut novel in September of '19.
This novel is titled Beloved and I quite honestly never wanna see it again.
Of course it'll always hold a special place in my heart, but you know what they say about never publishing your first novel? Yeah, well, they were right. Although, at the time, I firmly believed that God called me to publish that book, so I'm clinging to that knowledge and I know that he can use it in His own way, flawed as it is. :)
I don't write much anymore. Life stuff happens and people grow up and suddenly what was once one of the most important parts of life, well...isn't so important anymore. And that's okay. I still love books, and I'll still post about books. Who else is gonna provide top-tier reviews and recommendations??
(I'm kidding. There's a lot of fantastic book blogs out there.)
I also love music. And singing. A lot. And I crochet some. And herbs have become my latest obsession. (I actually have an entire garden dedicated to herbs. It's beautiful.)
If you stayed put long enough to read all that, thanks, buddy! Have a burger (I also do a l o t of cooking, and I'm pretty good, if I say so myself).
Love this About Me page, Kaitlyn! And I can totally relate to the part about singing at the top of my lungs! XD
